Compression Reinvented for Easier and Faster Workflow
MTurboComp obviously speeds up workflow tremendously, providing access to so many classic compressors in a single click. But does not stop there. Compressors are one of any audio engineer's most used tools, but they're still based on decades-old designs and controls, making them so difficult to use. How about controlling the amount of compression? Such a basic task, but almost impossible without changing the output level to make any decision almost impossible.
So Melda took the liberty of setting a new standard. All MTurboComp emulates compressors have almost the same GUI, so you always know what to do. They have the original controls made, but they have a lot more than that: Compression amount compression with minimal changes to the control's output level, Saturation to get additional character, Dry/wet control for parallel compression, and finall, side chain input, high-pass detector, low-pass and peak filters, so you can easily adjust the compressor to the audio material. The classic Melda gifts such as automatic gain compensation, safety limiter, mid/side processing and AH snapshots are included of course.
Custom emulations by machine learning
Developers usually simulate the old compressors through the analysis of test circuits and signals. As such, it takes a long time to emulate a single compressor and is prone to all kinds of errors. We took a very different approach - we designed a dynamics processor so versatile, it can simulate almost anything. And we definitely didn't dare set it up manually later - we let the computers do it for us!
It took the computers a long time and didn't spare Melda days of listening tests and manual labor, but Melda still has a a great emulation of over a dozen classic compressors in record time :). They don't sound exactly the same, after all not even the originals don't sound exactly the same to each other. But maybe MTurboComp sounds better then the originals. Just try and listen for yourself.product features
