Multiband Limiter Processor
The Quad Lim is the limiting version of the Quad Comp, which, according to the limiting principle, has a fixed infinity-to-1 ratio. Gain makeup and time constants are user definable for greater control. As with the Quad Comp and other Multi Series processors, you can adjust the slope of the filter that splits the frequency ranges so that dynamics control is wider or sharper, depending on your needs. As an additional layer of control, Quad Lim features a master brickwall limiter that can be activated to prevent overshoots.
As for Quad Comp, quality and transparency of the filters used for swath division were particularly important so that no artifacts or hum was generated at the crossover points.

Being of the brickwall type, this limiter ensures that the program doesn't go beyond the 0 dBFS level, no matter how the gain of the previous tracks is set. By judiciously defining the gain structure of the bandwidth limiters and the master brickwall, maximum distortion-free volume can be achieved.
This processor is extremely useful as a tool for Mastering finish on the stereo bus of your mix: by applying the limiter only to selected parts of the audio spectrum, and only when that band's level exceeds the set limit, a dual effect is achieved: frequency-conscious dynamic control. This will allow for the perfect EQ balance of a mix that wasn't quite right, particularly in situations where program material can change drastically over time, such as live recordings.
