What is True Mid/Side?

True Mid/Side is a unique plugin that extracts the true phantom center and true stereo side signals from a stereo mix. Unlike traditional "Mid/Side" processing, which is actually a "sum and difference" processing, True Mid/Side truly separates the phantom center and stereo side signals. This allows independent control of the Left-Center-Right signals.

"Power Mono" Mode

True Mid/Side's "Power Mono" mode produces a mono mix using true power summing, more accurately capturing the balance and ambience of the original stereo mix. Unlike a simple left and right mix, in "Power Mono" a sound, no matter where it is panned in the stereo mix, emerges at the same level (-3dB pan law). This results in a significantly more accurate mono mix that maintains the balance of the original mix.

Spread Control

True Mid/Side also includes a Spread control, which allows you to select the depth of the separation algorithm.
